Is there anyway to stop FB sending random friends requests? Just had a notification saying that someone has accepted a request that I didn't send, good job I know her and I dread to think how many more may have been sent, people will think I'm a nut.

Fortunately not, Rocky.

Although I sort of wish he had, so I could then have had pleasure of defriending him :)
what do the rest of you do when someone sends you a friend request, and no way are you going to accept it? I tend to ignore it but one person (who's not actually a friend, more a passing acquaintance, but nosy) accosted me in the supermarket car park and reminded me she'd sent me a request.... like, no...
Awkward, boxy!

How did you respond?
I said I was keeping a very tight group of people who can see my account, as I'm cautious about FB. She didn't like it, but I'm not accepting her.
rocky, seems it's been happening for a while, this is a couple of years ago http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Question1154221.html
I think the etiquette is "Accept (preferably in the middle of the night), nose around all their pages and then de-friend immediately".

Not that I've ever done that, but someone did play that game on me once - unfortunately for them I was online at the time & so my nosiness gene was satisfied too :+)

I just don't accept if I don't feel inclined but must admit I've never been challenged by someone, don't know how I'd handle it to be honest, would probably depend on my mood and who it was.

I saw this in related questions as well Boxy, I even answered on it lol, what a memory, not! I still reckon it could be apps or similar, I never accept anything that says it wants access to my friends list but for the first time I did yesterday so I could post a link about LIK's friends. Not that that was involved as I'm sure it all happened before.
I just decline Boxy. I've never been challenged but if I was I wouldn't respond as we're not friends so I wouldn't feel I owed them an explanation. I also wouldn't respond if I had chosen to de-friend someone if it was a friend I had made online as it wouldn't be a friend in my day to day life; and I would assume that a friend in my day to day life would know why we've fallen out since I guess we'd at least have exchanged words.
Doesn't happen To me, it suggests friends but I do not allow it.
