My pop up bath plug no longer pops up.
How do I detach the the disc which turns to operate the mechanism to see if I can repair it.

I have exactly the same problem. Sorry I can't help you but I am waiting to see if anyone else can. Hope you (and I) get it sorted.
Well, it depends ...

Is it cable operated? (turn a knob to raise and lower)
Rod operated? (push a knob/ pull it up)
Sprung? (push to close and push again to open)
Question Author
It is cable operated I think. There is a black tube underneath running from a small black box behind the disc turn to another black box at the waste hole. I therefore presume it is cable. Awkward to get at!
I suspect the top black box has to come off to check connection....??
Mine is sprung. Push to close it and push again to open it.
I very much doubt if anything can be done from "above".
Nothing for it but to remove the side panel .

If yours has been "built-in", then a certain amount of demolition may be required.
Take this opportunity to make the panel fully detachable when you put it back............ for next time ;o)

The answer, guys.
1. Take off panel and see the box containing the cable end. Unscrew one small screw to take lid off box.
2. The cable which runs to the waste pipe is attached to an L shaped plastic moulding the long end of which fits onto a brass rod which runs through the bath to the back of the turning disc.
3. The disc can be detached from the other end of this rod by undoing a grub screw which can be accessed through a small hole in the disc.
4. The plastic moulding had split so that the rod rotated in the moulding and did not turn the short leg of the moulding.
5. Araldite the rod into the long leg of the moulding , refit and test.
6. Replacement part would be better but plumbers merchants suggest replacement unit...of course they would.
7. Lucky number ?
