Hello, I see that the NHS Electronic prescription service is being rolled out to all practices on the 18th of November, I've been using the service for a good while now but my issue is that I live in England but work in Wales & I would like to nominate a pharmacy in Wales to collect my meds, but up to now I can't because of the Wales being a different country, with this being rolled out all over the UK will I be able to collect my meds in Wales now? Thank you.

You should be able to, as long as Wales remains a part of the UK.
use Pharmacy2U, they do it all and it arrives in the post.
From the article I read you will still be able to opt for a paper prescription, it's just that electronic will be the default.
My GP surgery has been using electronic prescriptions for quite while. A lot faster than using paper ones.
dannyk13 – I order my repeat prescription via e-mail to my surgery over the weekend, by the following weekend the prescription is not ready for collection at my nominated pharmacy – just how slow are paper repeat prescriptions?
I order my repeat prescriptions only before 9am and the pharmacy delivers them to my home the same day, before 2pm. Superb free service.

daz, as I understand it you should be able to get your English GP prescription made up at a Welsh pharmacy of your already via electronic means. If you can't it must be because your chosen pharmacy or your GP isn't using that method already.
Shame your GP isn't in Wales - you would be entitled to free prescriptions even though you live in England.
Hymie, try ringing the pharmacy instead of e-mail.
"they do it all and it arrives in the post"...until it doesn't, then you'll have one helluva time finding out what's happened to it.
gawd elp us talk about ignoring the elephant in the room. Like I said use pharmacy2U - agro fee, much less hassle than the above suggestions.
What's a prescription? :o) I don't do them. Don't need anything.
not "agro fee" if it doesn't get delivered though....then, lots of agro.
I wouldn't use pharmacy2u because:
they are not a local pharmacy
they use Royal Mail

I prefer to use my local pharmacy as they deliver in person the same day that they receive the prescription. They are local so that if there is a problem it can be very quickly resolved. When I have to visit my GP for a different matter they whizz the prescription through to the pharmacy and by the time I get there it is made up ready for collection.
It is literally a same day service. I order online from my GP in the morning and my meds arrive same day.
hc, that's how it should work. The reality round here is very different, with the local pharmacy saying they haven't received anything from the surgery. It happens a lot to people I know.
mine has always turned up, I can only speak as i find.
That's bad, 10C. I do know that every electronic prescription has a unique number that the GP will give either to you or the pharmacy and using that the pharmacy can access the prescription if it has failed to go through.
If you've got a choice of pharmacy, try changing. It can't be any worse
hc you must live in the golden grid for GPs/Pharmacies.
I use my local, help protect their jobs.
It's a nationwide pharmacy that I use - Jhoots.
dannyk13 - The e-mail is not to the pharmacy, but to my GP’s surgery (to request a repeat prescription), which is then attached to a snail and sent to the pharmacy.

If only they operated a paper system, whereby I could collect my repeat prescription from the surgery and hand-deliver it to the pharmacy – things would be much quicker.
Hymie, your surgery should give you the unique serial number of your prescription on request. That is enough for the pharmacy to make up your prescription
