Emailed my friend in Spain two days ago see if they had a good flight and arrived safely by WhatsApp. No reply would they have received message. Thanks for your reply

You can't "email by WhatsApp". What did you actually do...?

Look at the ticks next to your message in Whatsapp:

One grey tick means that your message was successfully sent.

One blue tick means that it reached the recipient's phone.

Two blue ticks means that the recipient opened the message to read it.

I agree with Jim that email and Whatsapp are two entirely different things. In my answer above, I assumed that 'emailed' in the question had (incorrectly) been used as a synonym for 'messaged'.

Having said that, a pal of mines telt me her husband has a method or setting that allows him to read messages without them showing as read.

I know messages can be read as a preview but from what she said, she meant any length.

Just a thought...I notice you asked on here 2 days ago how to contact someone in Spain. If you used Whatsapp because of those answers, did you check your friend uses Whatsapp first?

Put the phone in airplane mode before you read it.

And to add to chelle's answer, if your friend's phone is not connected to the internet by some means then no they wouldn't have been able to read the message nor reply.
