Please Explain Kindles To Me Someone.
I have never had one and as far as I know never seen one. Now I need one. This is Toorak's fault re her post about, "A Little Life" with James Norton.

I bought the book. It's about 2' thick in the timiest writing in a book I have ever seen. So I decided to look on Amazon and there are so many I need your help in choosing one. Whether I will ever use it again after ALLife, who knows.
I want one that is easy to use but has everything I am likely to need. Price? I guess I'll pay whatever I need to. Help anyone? Please.

If you don't have an ereader you can read the ebook on the bigger screen of your laptop or tablet at home, and on your mobile phone whilst out and about. The devices synch.
I agree that a dedicated eReader gives a much better experience but it could be a sledgehammer to crack a nut if you only want to read one ebook
I love mine. It was a gift and lots of my favourite texts were put onto it for me. I don't know how to add to them. Really useful when you are sitting a waiting-room etc..
I have several short stories available to download onto Kindles (courtesy of nice son-in-law) but I can't in all honesty help in any way re. selection or how to work it. I just read on mine.
Good luck, maybe I'll learn how to work it from the answers.
