Different mAh ratings on rechargeable batteries...

I have dect phones which work on rechargeable batteries. The ones my dects use are 1.2v AA 550mAh, and they are old and not holding a charge. I have been across goggle and have been unable to locate this exact rating of rechargeable battery. Would it matter if instead of these, I used batteries rated 1.2v AA 600mAh. I know that the mAh stands for milli amperes an hour. But my question is would the slighty different rating affect the dect phones or their performance? Many thanx...

Wont affect performance - they will last longer!

I have 1700mAh they certainly last awhile.

mAh stands for milliamphour, meaning you could draw 550mA for an hour, or 55mA for 10hours etc. As it represents the energy-holding ability of the battery, the bigger the better!

In theory, 1.7Ah batteries will therefore last three times as long as your original 550mAh batteries.

Any battery is fine, the bigger the number, the longer they last.

Just a word of warning - If the phones are fitted wi Ni-Cd cells then dont replace with Ni-Mh (Normally larger capacity) unless you are sure the charging circuit is compatible.
