Hi Folks

I'm contemplating buying one of the above privately and I'll have about 3000 to "play with".

I'll probably go for a 1991 to 1993 model.

Any idea what I'll get for that money?

Does anyone have experience of owning one?

What sort of m.p.g. can I expect?

Pros? Cons?

Thanks in advance.

These can be problamatic as an import with spares and service. For 3K you can get a later, very nice 2.5 Landrover Discovery 300 series, much better, cheap spares and service and around 35 mpg.

I've actually got my heart set on a Pajero - don't like Land Rovers, I'm afraid.

Working on Jap stuff, I would agree that the Disco is likely to hold it's value more, but spares are simple and plentiful for the Pajero. Plus, a Jap import comes loaded with tons of goodies as standard.

Sod the British made rubbish - stick with the Jap stuff - less likely to have been through river's etc - disco's invariably have a hard life at that age, as they didn't become that popular wit hthe school run crowd until later.

Thanks gouldc - it's the extras and goodies that appeal to me! :o)

I also think the Pajero looks nicer than the "Disco".

with pajeros speaking from experience make sure you go for the mark2 version or later, with 2.8 engine. not the 2.5 as this is seriously underpowered and prone to failure.

but all in all the paj are a very good car and great to drive. good luck

Thanks meltoadhall.

I originally wanted to go for the 2.5D as (I was told) they had the option of a cloth interior whereas the 2.8 all had leather. I've had leather B4 and didn't particularly like it.

They don't all have leather, mine didn't but still had every other luxury possible. Go for it!!
