I am looking for a reading I heard once about 2 trees growing together. As they grew the roots entwined together (signify two people becoming one) but above the grown they always had two trunks (signify not losing their own identity). Or something like that.

Anyone know where I can find this reading? Thanks,

Is this the one goodluck.

TOGETHER

Two trees near to each other stood
When they were young and life was new.
Their limbs reach out and their branches entwine
And thus together they grew.
Their roots spread out down under the ground
Joining one with the other,
So, from the top in the sky to the heart
In the earth-the two were joined together.
Thru days when the sun was bright and warm
And the winds were tempermental
When a laughing breeze rustled the leave,
Or when the rain was soft and gentle.
Thru days when the clouds were dark and gray
And cold and fierce the weather
The two stood firm and faced the storms
Because they stood together.
On a cold dark day one tree fell
And the branches that were so entwined
Were all torn apart and down in the heart
Roots were broken and undermined.
Bruised and scarred, left standing alone
To meet the wind and strife
The one that was left still stood on,
But lived only half a life.

This is not the one you described, but I think you may like this one as well. It's from The Prophet, by Kahlil Gibran.

No, the one you want is from Captain Correllis Mandolin.... I read it at a friend's wedding recently and it made people cry (maybe it was the delivery!)

Love is a temporary madness;
it erupts like volcanoes and then subsides.
And when it subsides you have to make a decision.
You have to work out whether your roots have so entwined together
that it is inconceivable that you should ever part.
Because this is what love is.
Love is not breathlessness,
it is not excitement,
it is not the promulgation of eternal passion.
That is just being "in love" which any fool can do.
Love itself is what is left over when being in love has burned away,
and this is both an art and a fortunate accident.
Those that truly love, have roots that grow towards each other underground,
and when all the pretty blossom have fallen from their branches,
they find that they are one tree and not two

Good Luck - Did you find your the correct reading? I also herd this at a wedding a couple of years ago and would now like to use it at a friend wedding coming up.
