if you get a pitch with a mains hook up you will need a lead which has a weather proof plug on one end and a standard mains socket on the other. From memory some have a built in RCD for safety. There are some designed for caravans which have a similar style socket on the other end which plugs straight into the caravan which you dont want as you will want one with a standard socket on the end so you can plug in your appliances. They come in varying lenghts and current ratings.

I tend to use 12v lighting and just hook up a lead to the car battery. The lead consists of two crock clips and a cigarette lighter socket. Most 12v camping appliances are fitted with the appropriate plug.
electric hook up is good for electric cooler boxes, electric kettle, heater ect.ect. You camp how YOU want to camp not how other people think you should!!!!
