Leaving a web forum

I would have put this in research, but it's not really - more a general question for personal reasons.

If I have a username etc on a web forum that I want to leave (not here), then do I have a right to have my username(s) deleted if that's what I want? I know that deletion is possible, because the guy who runs the site I have in mind has deleted/banned people in the past. Just that I'd rather not have my details etc available on the site - not even the username.

The guy doesn't like me because I dare to disagree with him, and he keeps threatening to ban me but never does. When I asked if I could change my username, he wouldn't help because he said he won't do anything for me, even though he's the moderator. I mean, he has an option - delete the username(s) for me or put up with me posting nasty messages to his website.

It's an American site, but I'm in the UK (which is part of the reason he doesn't like me, that and I'm a woman). Can I threaten him with anything legal? Can I threaten him with anything at all?

No, you can't. It's his site (is he the administrator too, as well as a moderator?), so you have to play by his rules.

But, a username isn't really personal information, is it? You should be able to edit your profile and remove anything that is personal information, just leaving an empty username.

He's not the administrator, but each has his nose tight up the other's backside, if you get my drift. I think I'll just have to delete my profiles/change passwords and leave a nasty message. Thanks.

Why leave a nasty message at all? Just take off any personal information that you are able to, and leave.

It's to do with people googling one of my usernames and finding me linked with the forum - which I'd rather not be linked with. There are reasons for that that I can't go into here.

I'm currently making myself so undesirable there though that he's working overtime, so I think he'll get round to it soon enough.
