If I use the SWIFT system to trasnfer funds abroad are they credited on the same day.

3 to 5 working days usually although if you are sending the money in Euro, they may use Target which will probably get there the next working day, the same for USD transfers where they may use Microcash for a next day credit. All other currencies including GBP use plain SWIFT.
