The maximum penalty allowed for speeding on a motorway is a level 4 fine (2,500), 6 penalty points and disqualification. The likely penalty will be about 400 fine and three penalty points. That assumes that the case goes to a magistrates court and depends on the circumstances of the case, the mood of the magistrates, and the area of the country.
You only say 100 mph...was it slightly over, under or bang on as it might make a difference as mikewall rightly says attitudes vary wildly through the country but knowing a quite a few cops they all seem to regard the three figure barrier as a point when they start to get extra mean and make sure the law is applied fully....I prepare for the worst and get a Bus timetable ready if I was you.
Depends on the officer you get and how you were driving. I was speeding, but slowed down as soon as I saw the police car. The officer let me off because he said I was paying attention and not driving recklessly. Other officers may not be so lenient. Still got a lecture...
Why don't we take the American approach and fine people for stepping into the road, except at pedestrian crossings? I feel we spend too much time picking on motorists - everyone has a responsibility for their own safety.
