Hello, can anyone tell me how to get a halogen bulb out of a shower cubicle extraction light. I have tried pushing and twisting like a normal light bulb but the glass that covers the bulb itself came off in my hand. I have asked the electritian who fitted the light but he cant remember without calling round. I'm trying to avoid the call out of him as i now this will cost and how hard can changing a light bulb be!!
Have you a replacement bulb? if so have a look at the base to see what type of method is used for fixing.
There is the type that you just push in - pull out or there is another type with two circular discs on the bottom, with these you would remove like a conventional bayonet cap. I would think that yours may be the first type, just pull down.
my toilet lights are halogen, 35 watts. When I first bought them they came with a small black rubber sucker thing which you attached to the bulb and as you say just twist in an anti clockwise direction ... thats how mine come out. The other type just plug in without twisting in any direction. Best of luck...if you broke the glass, get a pair of pliers and take the bulb out. Make sure the power to the light is off.
go to your local lighting/diy shop and if they have the same sort of bulb/light fitting as you ask an assistant to show you how to remove the bulb. free advice no call out fee!
alternatively, ask the electrician to show you and explain if he wants repeat buisness and referals from you he should do it for free.when he's passing it would only take him a minute to do and he'd be building up goodwill.
