tee hee Panic them where the days wern`t they, did anybody do the trick in the old stle phone boxes were you could get free calls by taping the receiver the amount of times which corresponded to the digits of the number you wanted to get through to

The phone boxes of my youth had a 2p and a 10p slot. When the person answered you were connected for a second, then heard pips to tell you to push a coin in.

If it was raining when I got off the school bus I (and my brother) could call for my Mum to drive up and fetch us.

We would ring and when she answered we shouted our name in the one second before the pips. We the rang again and she would shout Yes or No, depending on if she could come.

yes panicbutton we now use the same principal with the 0800 reverse.If my son has run out of credit (happens quite often) he rings me using the 0800 number when he says his name i know to contact him .Alot cheaper than using the service to take the call it costs a fortune!!!!!!!!

I must say panic button and teash bring back a lot of memories I used to phone up my then girl friend (now wife) tap out the number on the old button a and b phone boxes then when she answered just push the a button in for a moment and i was through for as long as i wanted free of charge no wonder the old GPO was sold off they must of lost thousands from us kids
