How does Anserbank (not) work?
7 Answers
Last night I spent over an hour researching and typing an answer to a question (OK I had my anorak on) which you can only do when you are logged on. When I hit the submit button, I was asked to log-on and the log-on on popup obliterated my answer. Tonight, having already logged on to answer one question, I have tried to answer others but every time I am asked to log-on again but there is no way of doing this. Over to you ABed.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I think you are automatically logeed out after 1/2 an hour or so - so if you start typing your answer and take a while getting it right before you post it, you'll be logged out and have to start again. The best work-round I've found is to type long answers in your WP package, and copy it to clipboard. Then log into AB, get the answer box up and paste your answer in.
Despite having been caught out like you more than once before, Gef, and double-despite having used LeMarchand's above-suggested solution frequently in the past in order to avoid it, I, too, was nobbled in this way this very morning with a long answer! I hadn't saved it...some of us never learn! It is vastly annoying, though, isn't it?
The same thing happens, by the way, if your answer is too long. They don't indicate that it's overlong and ask whether you'd like to edit it down a bit...oh no!...they simply consign it to the ether forever!
So, for answers that take a long time to create or for those that are lengthy in and of themselves, always - for your own sanity - save them in a word processor first before posting. Cheers
