Ok here goes....don't abuse me for asking please....I just want to know if it is POSSIBLE? or if it has actually happened?? But say you are jumping off a boat into the sea (say from a height so that you go quite deep) is it possible to land on a whale or other sea creature? I know its not likely but I was discussing it with someone and they laughed that I would think of such a thing. Surely it must have happened to someone before right?

It is possible to land on any free-swimming animal such as a shark, whale, seal or fish but the probability is quite low. You would certainly land on millions of zooplankton and phytoplankton.

It is absolutely possible - but unlikely.

Most of the higher order marine creatures tend to stay away from boats. Those that don't such as dolphins have excellent eyesight combined with dizzying speed, so if there was a danger of collision, they'd be out of the way before you hit the water.

I don;t think anyone should be abused for asking any question - that's how knowledge is spread.

There are no such things as daft questions - there are the ones you can answer, and the ones you can't/

Following andy-hughes excellent response, it is just as likely (if not more so) in an open forum that the answer given will me more daft than any question asked. Just part of the price we all must be prepared to pay for free advice. All in all the knowledge gained is often well worth the price paid. imho

Steve Irwin was killed after being stung by a Sting Ray. He rolled bankwards or jumped from a boat into the water and landed on the poisonous barb of the fish.

Therefore it is possible, the chances of it happening I suppose would depend on the water and therefore type of habitat, if it was a reef for example which supports alot of life then yes more chance of landing on something.

Bear Grylls jumped off his makeshift raft and into the Pacific ocean the other night and landed on a Tiger Shark, his face drained of colour as one shark turned into 4 around his raft lol

I think the shark was just as surprised as he was. He didnt half scarper out of that water though hahaha
