International Signed-For wrong delivery!

I don't believe it! I posted some DVDS to my friend in Dubai last week by International Signed-For and today I receive a txt from him saying thanks for the present. Later on we are talking on MSN and turns out they have given him the wrong packet which he has signed for and it has a phone inside! He didnt check it before signing for it either! The phone, he tells me, is not worth more than the cost of the 2 dvds. I have suggested to him that he return it ASAP and I hope that someone else hasnt been given his packet instead. Can I claim from Royal Mail if they dont give him my packet or is it hopeless because he has signed the delivery already?

He hasn't signed for the package you sent him, so he hasn't received it, of course you can claim for non delivery.

There is no need for him to return the wrong package, he won't get the proper one.

Royal Mail are rubbish.I sent a cheque next day signed for delivery, it went missing, sixteen months later i recieved my cheque back from a man at the other end of the street to which it was sent, he had opened it when it was put through his door( not signed for) then he kindly returned it to me as my address was inside. After numerous calls to Royal mail and the ombusman they wouldnt even give me my six quid i paid for the original service which they failed to perform.

Its ok now. My friend went back to the office, they gave him the correct packet for which he signed for.
