I've seen some adverts for spectacles made from this. The idea is that, if you sit on your specs and damage the frame, the metal will return to its original shape. When I've had new specs that needed a slight adjustment to fit properly, the opticians have simply bent the frame a bit. How can you alter the shape of this memory metal? Or does the optician keep having to make a new frame until one fits properly?
Sorry, i answered this question but my comp froze after writing such a big response! Basically, I used to glaze frames and memory metal CAN be manipulated with heat and very precise twisting - the optical dispenser should make sure the size of the frame already fits the patient so as not much manipulation is needed. I used to put my customers off of these frames as personally I think they are B%ll$hit!
Memory metal is all very well for a while and forms a good party trick but you will find like I did that the very expensive frames snap clean in two across the nose bridge, one day after the guarantee runs out.

And this is exactly why you should stand on them precisely one week before your guarantee runs out and get a new pair! :-)
I am looking through a pair of these right now. When I have adjustments made the optometrist uses a heat process to bend them. I also have had a pair smap across the bridge.Got a new pair under warranty tho!!.
