How come there is a light in my refrigerator but not in the freezer section or for that matter my stand alone chest freezer?

Some freezers do have lights in, but obviously more expensive than the one you have.
Lights in fridges are probably catering for 'Secret Lemonade Drinkers' who come down in the middle of the night for a drink/snack. The likelihood of wanting to gnaw on a frozon leg of lamb is less. Hence no lights in freezers!
it is all to do with frost if you do not have a frost free one when the bulb gets hot and you close the door the ice forming on the bulb will break it
