What's the best way to put some extra notches into a belt. It's a new leather belt that I got for a present but its a bit too big.

Heat up a steel nail till red hot and puncture it through it.
If you have a variable speed drill, choose a suitable sized bit, place the belt on a piece of wood, and drill SLOWLY where you want the hole.....But, JK04's is simpler and does the same thing.
PS: Whichever method you use, don't be wearing the belt:)
go into your local shoe repair shop - they'll punch holes as required.
I've just bought a punch and rivet set for 7 from my local Somerfield - just what you need!
Just check my receipt and the punch and riverter set was 4.90!
Or you could just save yourself the money and do it yourself for free.
Unless your gonna be goin around punching holes in everything you can find, otherwise its a bit of a waste of money, even if it is less than a fiver.
just gently drill it
