blood pressure guage

manual blood pressue reader (the sort you'd use with a stethascope) the needle of the guage has stuck on 280...it should then go down when i realease the pump but it doesn't! Have a broken the guage? "tapping" it makes no difference. it looks like the needles is "stuck". any suggestions appraeciated.

They may be able to check with the nurse, who probably uses one as much as a the doctor. Otherwise, check your local business directory for medical equipment suppliers and get them to have a look.

very old hat, the pump up and listen type. much easier with the modern "round the wrist" or "above the elbow" type. readings are pretty accurate once you get the hang of it.
they are quite reasonably priced at lloyds chemists, about �12. I think. I've got both ( not the old type ) and readings are pretty much the same, I use one, then check it out with the other, just to be sure. One mini stroke is enough to keep you on guard. watch your pressure and your cholesterol, and AVOID SALT.
