Setting up a telephone line at home 2
2 Answers
I have been advised by someone that the cost of installing a phone line should be met by my landlord, or I can pay for it, but have it deducted from rent owed, as this will count towards improvement of the house.
How appropriate would it be for me to ask my landlord to do this?

If the next person dosent want a telephone account for example if they already have a mobile, then when you leave it'll be disconnected, and whoever wants it reconnected in the future will just have to pay again. In my experience, if you want a phone line you pay for it to be installed yourself, and ask the landlords permission. Some will say no as they dont want to be stuck with another bill if the tennant does a moonlight flit
Dont think a phone line will be viewed as a home improvement...If you have a new line installed from BT.. you will have to agree to a 12 month contract... It's for your benefit not your landlord's....
