Am trying to find a battery for my watch on e-bay, but as I threw the old one away (idiot-I know) I don't know which one I need! I have here a SR626SW which is just slightly too big, anyone know what number would be the next smallest please?
Try looking up (e.g. by googling) your watch movement type - the reference number may be engraved on the watch back and almost certainly on the movement itself, visible when you have removed the back. If you find a manual of any sort there should be a reference to the battery type in there. You may even find some other mention of it on a forum, etc.
Thanks but I've tried all that. The manual has long gone, it's an old watch that I was going to throw away, I disposed of the battery then thought maybe I will hang on to the watch after all, nothing at all on the watch itself to give me a clue. Never mind, I'll take it to a jewellers and ask them to pop a battery in. Thanks for trying.
On the back of the case it says water resistant 1N00-X046 movement Japan. When you take the back off all it says is Seiko time corp no jewels Japan. Not very helpful is it?
There is a 1N00 series set of instructions on the internet but unfortunately your X046 variant is not listed there - it is a ladies watch, is it not ? Jewellers will charge you a lot more than if you go to someone who simply sells batteries. Such a person (even key and/or shoe repair places have watch batteries) will give you the opportunity to guess at the correct size and probably have suggestions of his own - but you likely won't be able to return a battery that does not fit.
You would be extremely lucky if Poundland's pack contains what you need - but it is correct that you don't have a lot to lose. When I was away, my family went to Timpsons to change a battery and they said the watch was the problem, not the battery. Not so, I later changed the battery and the watch works fine to this day. Buying a battery on its own, without a fitting charge, will almost certainly be the cheapest option.
SR626SW (also known as 377) is 2.6 x 6.8mm SR521SW (379) is 2.5 x 5.8mm SR621SW (364) is 2.1 x 6.8mm and SR521SW(379) is 2.2 x 5.8mm
Not knowing in which direction the 626 is oversize not sure which of those is going to be OK
