Which sort of file are you wanting to insert? Text, XL, Database or what?

it's excel scotsman.....
I' seem to be able to copy and paste it or impot it once saved but...i cannot then convert it to a table. if you could help by taking me through "step by step" it's be great.
1 Go to where you want to insert your table, so that the cursor is flashing at the start

2 In the 'Table' menu at the top, select 'Insert', then 'Table'.

3 Select the number of columns and rows you want and click OK.

4 Go to the Exel folder your data is in, cover the required data and Copy

5 Go back to the Word document, click in the top left hand field of your new table, right-click and Paste. This won't look right yet.

6 Somewhere on your document, near the area you've pasted will be a little image that, if you hover over it, tells you it's Paste Options.

7 Click in that and select 'Merge with existing table'

That should do the trick. I don't doubt there are other ways of doing this, but this is what works for me.

Good luck.
