Mobile phone insurance

Why do people pay for this? My home contents insurance covers me against theft, loss and accidental damage - so why would I need another insurance policy?
I don't get it.

perhaps because a claim on home insurance would need a bigger excess and then would push premiums up for the next few years

or that some insurance companies dont cover mobile phones
