my aunt has a chronic asthmatic condition and is on some steroids to control her condition. she is hoping to fly out to the usa for 5 or 6 weeks to visit my other aunt. she managed to get travel insurance 2 years ago via age concern(she's 65), but is struggling this time to be accepted for cover. this is due to the meds that she's on. anyone any ideas on an insurance company that may be able to help?

I have very mild asthma and my partner has type 2 diabetes. My asthma isn't very bad, but I'd noticed that the insurance companies seem to be clamping down on the pre-existing medical conditions they cover. I went with a company called Citybond (www.citybond.co.uk) You have to fill in a questionnaire about the illness, including an explanation of what medication is taken, and how bad the condition is. They come back to you with a yes/no answer and a premium. I hope this helps.
get her to shop around. Even people undergoing cancer treatment can get insurance - for a price. Steroids per se do not stop you getting insurance. I would imagine its the illness rather than the medecine thats a problem
Try mediquote - i just got insured wiith them
Several charities for the disabled (and for those with chronic illnesses) link to to this firm as a possible source of travel insurance:

However, Asthma UK have their own deal to provide asthma sufferers with travel insurance, through Unique Insurance:
