Can I just advise people not to accept their insurance renewal. It's a dog eat dog market but also a buyers market out there for all companies. Also, help out your friends and family who do not have access to the internet when possible (I do this for my 77 yr old Mum) Why..........................
I have received my house buildings & contents renewal by post but went online and for an exact cover with the same (nodding dog) company reduced the price by £25 per year (not much per month but paying in full a good saving). I rang them and was put through to a Loyalty Advisor and received a new quote with a reduction of £23) Hhmmm, quibble over £2 not usually me but I did quibble (nicely) and the outcome was a reduction of £28 overall including reducing my excess from £200 to £100. PS: Buildings cover £500k, contents £50k but does not include accidental damage. 2 yrs no claims discount.
HOPE THIS HELPS, HAS ANYONE ELSE SAVED ££££££'s. PLEASE HELP OTHERS.

I totally agree that you need to shop around at renewal, but it does beg the question "why didn't they offer you their best deal in the first place"? It just shows how much profit they are making from people who don't question their renewal premium.
I can also recommend using a broker, as they will usually give you their best price in the first place.
