Desperate to become a camera women/press photographer
4 Answers
Since the age of five, I have had a real passion for the news and current affairs and really wanted to grow up to be a news camera women or a press photographer, my biggest dream to follow Roger Cook on the Cook Report or work for Fox News in New York. I did a small amount of work experience, but after leaving school had to get an office job to pay the bills etc etc. I desperately want to start following my dreams again, how would I go about pursuing a career like this, i'm 26 and am now in a more stable financial position. I have written to the BBC and Central News but to no avail. I appreciate there are a huge amount of people that want to do this and how competitve it is but if I do not have ago now, I do not think I ever will. Thank you for any advice in advance, it is all greatly appreciated as I just do not know who to write to or where to start.

Realistically, you need qualifications - media/photography etc to show your competence and then target local newspaper/media and build up some work experience/volunteer work - your local BBC news look for local citizens to submit interesting items - this could lead to something more permanent and you could build up some useful contacts. Lots of luck!
