I've got a 2.1 in English Language and Literature from the University of Manchester (no 4 in the UK for English according to the TES) and I'm stuck. What can I do next??? (NOT management trainee please!)

english teacher - one extra year at a teaching college, what did you have in mind when you started the degree?
Question Author
Anything but teaching! All my family are teachers or school inspectors or HMIs, so I really can't face it! I planned to go into lecturing, and may still go back and do a Masters and then a research degree. I'm just keeping my options open...
permanent student then ?!!!!...............
Hi..I'm in my third year studying English language at the Univeristy of Manchester and recently took a ten credit course called 'Career Management' Although painfully boring at times (CV writing, Interview skills, blah blah blah) we had loads of presentations from companies who are desperate to recruit humanities student...companies you wouldnt expect either like PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Marketing is a good option for Eng lang students...as are things like event management. Do you still have access to the careers centre in Manc if you've graduated? Have a look at the website if not because there's loads of information on there on which companies emply humanities graduates.
