I have recently started working in a care home for the elderly, iv been told i will have to do my nvq 2 but what is the actual qualification health and social care? and iv read that with that i could also work as a nursery nurse is this right? will i just be trained in careing for the elderly or will i be able to do other things with this qualification?
As an elderly person myself, thankfully still resident in my own accommodation, I am led to believe that there is essentially no difference between the care of the elderly and children of nursery age, both being treated with equal abruptness and contempt. When I am no longer capable physically of looking after myself I intend to commit suicide (though it goes against all my beliefs) rather than submit myself to the tender mercies of "care workers".
what did u google? when i used google it said it would be health and social care and that i could work as a nursery nurse, healthcare assistant and youth community support worker but i thought same as you elderly care which is why im confused!!
In 1957 I had the misfortune to be placed in a children's home and still bear the mental scars. Hell will freeze over before they put me in an old folks' home.
ok thank you for your help, i have done my nvqs in business management so i know what to expect but found it very boring and would like to look after people and help people instead. Just trying to find the best path to take so i have as many options as poss.
You've been looking at the options - you have to study the award relevant to the sector you are working in. If you are working in elderly care, you wouldn't be able to provide the evidence for the childcare units.
