I have a student loan for $11,000 and my husband has one for $6,000. We both graduated in summer of 2007. We have both been struggling for the last few years, so all we could do at the time was ask for forbearance. This year we got over $3,000 taken away from us, and it was our first time we claimed our baby. I feel like all of our son's money was taken from him because of us. I was told that they had to wait 5 years before they can dig into our pockets to make payments.
Is this correct?
Is there anything we can do to get that money back?
