I have to write a C.V.

I haven't had to do one for years, (lucky me) Is there a modern template or a site that I can go to, to find out the way they should look today.
Thank you in advance.

the basics are still the same -
name, address, phone, email.
basic title header of your job name/s
start with most recent role and work backwards,
date, job title and company (Or company then job title is fine) brief outline of job and your role
then education and achievements.
referees available on request.
you can add a 'mission statement' at the top, and section on personal interests at the bottom if you want but its not essential.
i have very little formatting in mine - no indents or columns or boxes etc, just nicely spaced out and use bold and underline for emphasis - i have to update it very often you see so its easier to manage without all sorts of formatting etc

You're right to use the word 'modern' because there are some very staid examples out there - with the economy how it is right now you want something that looks sharp so that when it lands on the hiring manager's desk it goes in the interview pile and not into the shredder!. There are some modern templates on the JobFox UK website - they have a CV Template Zone where you can download examples in word. I work with the unemployed and rely on that site quite a lot in my day to day work. Good luck!
