What Qualifications are needed to join the police force

Hi im a student in my final year and i was wondering what qualifications you need to join the police force and what is needed to join the firearms? any help will be much appricated

As long as basic Home Office criteria are met, each police force is free to set its own entry standards. See here for further information:

Firearms training is normally only provided to a very small percentage of police officers. (The only exception is the specialist force which guards nuclear installations. The Metropolitan Police and the City of London Police also have a higher proportion of armed officers than other forces). Selection is based upon character, experience and aptitude. For many officers it seems to represent a 'sideways move' in their career progression. i.e. you don't find many senior ranks among the firearms teams.
