Can anyone recommend where you go for good advice on how to find a more satsifying job/career? I'm in a well-paid, comfortable job that is very tedious and repetitive. I would give it up for half the money if I could discover something that makes me feel like I am achieving something good. I just need some advice I think I can trust.

A good pal? Or us on here?! I guess you want to feel like you are making a difference somehow, in a job that gives you a thrill every day. Some jobs are big on adrenalin and others aren't. It also depends on what your skills are though. What areas do you have skills in?
You might possibly find that the Government-funded adult careers advice service is totally useless but, since it's free, you might as well give it a try:

Be careful if you try to change career. If you re-qualify in another line of employment, you will find yourself competing with people of your own age, but they have many years more experience than you have. Say you take a few years to re-train, and at the age of 35 you become ( say) a solicitor with no experience, you will be going for jobs competing against either much younger people, or people of 35 with ten years' experience more than you have. Tricky.
How about a paid job in the voluntary sector? There seems to be plenty of information about these on the Internet.
