snagged thick black tights

can i claim back for a 21 pound pair of thick black tights i bought only last weekend and snagged on a kid's coat zip as I leaned over to see his work in the lesson, I am so annoyed?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.dont hink so but you can repair them. turn them inside out then with a fine needle or pin push through to the snagged thread and gently pull through, put a small stich to secure. no one will notice you can hardly see repair. I do this with ordinary tights and stockings ( tip from mother ) and it works good luck

No - you ought to have been more careful. If you could claim from anyone it would be a) the kid for leaving his coat where he did or b) the LA for not providing coathooks. How would you prove negligence? It's up the individual in any liability claim to mitigate risk, and check before you lean over the pupil.

It's probably worth asking - I doubt you'd get anywhere as it doesn't seem the school was negligent, but there's probably no harm in trying (although if you are new in the role think about what the employer may think of you).

I don't know quite why but this has reminded me of the time a varicose vein emerged on my shin when I was teaching. Talk about heart doing a somersault. Then the relief when I discovered it was a mixture of ink and saliva that some child had managed to dribble onto my sheer flesh-tone tights.
