Kids pick up the language and actions of the adults around them , the child must have heard talk of guns and shooting people and is then gien her own toy gun , what do they expect ? It is the adults who should learn from this the child is innocent.
Unfortunately, toy guns have been a part of American culture for generations-I never had one,but plenty of kids did-mostly boys. It still exists, and to give a child a toy that looks like a gun is to expect/assume that that child will play with it in a gun-like manner. To then punish the child for doing so is pure stupidity. Just get rid of toys that bear any resemblence to weapons-whether gun, knives etc. They have no place in childhood. Kids are good enough at make-believe and play-fighting without them.
