Job Appraisal

I have my twice-yearly appraisal coming up at work.  Usually I get on fine with these but now quite a number of problems have occurred with the management of the team and I wish it to be known I am not happy.  Is it appropriate, professional behaviour to voice these problems to my boss, the person concerned, at an appraisal?  I'm not sure if, when she asks if I have anything I wish to discuss, whether generally this is the moment to air my problems with her?

i personally would sound out any problems that u have got and noticed at this meeting as it is a time for u both to sit down and discuss your job with the company and if u feel that it isnt as strong as before for whatever problem it is a good way of letting it be known and coming to a agreement over it

Yes.  Especially if it is/ or will be affecting your job performance.  I wouldn't get too personal about it though.

The purpose should be to iron out anything that might be affecting your career/job development, so as well as airing the problem your manager should be capable and willing to discuss solutions for the way forward.

Thanks, I think I'll take the good advice.  It is tricky to word it right without her getting the hump actually.  As is often the case, the lady in question is not really of  the management material that I would expect to match the salary. Why is it so many managers I come accross seem to forget how to MANAGE??
Pity the poor managers (not).......remember The Peter Principle: 'In a hierarchy, every employee tends to rise to his or her level of incompetence'.

Maybe yours has simply found her level.
Well I am a manager, and it always amazes me that the people in my team always think they could do it better.  They can't - that's why it is me!  The grass is always greener etc etc
I have done this and been respected for doing this. At my company they are very keen to hear our criticisms. I think as long as your criticisms are constructive and not a personal attack it should be okay.
