Furlough And Holiday

If someone was on furlough for 6 months and the employer offered to accrue the annual leave and extend the holiday year into 2021, so that it can be used, where would the bank holidays come in?

The annual leave is 25 days plus bank holidays. But since we didnt work the bank hols as we were all on furlough, I say its the annual leave that is accrued but not the BHs. A friend says the BHs are accrued too.

Who's correct?

I googled enough to answer my own question and found that unless the employer gave notice that the bank holidays were to be taken at the time, they are acrued along with the annual leave.
