At my school we did 4. Three you chose and General Studies whoch everyone did.

yeah i was same as sammy but that was 4 years ago, after i left they changed it to choosing 4 then dropping one in the second which became an AS level and carrying on with the other 3 to A level
I did 3. Clever gets done 4.

I was under the impression General Studies didn't count as points towards Uni.

My sister only did 2 though I think...
I don't know whether General Studies count or not, I never actually took the exams. I got offered a job before completing A levels so left and started work.
My daughter is doing five. GS do count as far as I know.

Two years ago I did 3 - 4 AS's in year 12, and then carried on with 3 for A level. At the nearby grammar school it was usual for them to be doing 5 though!

The average is usually about 4 in your first year so that you have the choice in the second year to drop a subject. I did this but some people (usually the more clever ones) take 5.

For General Studies it depends on the university whether they include this in their entry grades/admission. Usually the more prestigious universities don't accept it.

Im doing 5 including general studies.....and it all depends on the uni and the course as to whether or not GS is accepted, but its always worth having!!!
usually 4 are taken at AS then 3 are kept at A level. but some decide to take more and some schools make you do an extra AS like critical thinking
