Notice Period
6 Answers
We have a 3 month notice period but wld like to make it 2.
Is this viable? Wld it make us look bad (we still need a good ref etc)
There is someone who is able to step into our role for 6 months. The owner knows this.
Current role becoming quite unpleasant and I feel if we stay the entire period we may part on bad terms!
I myself can be sure to hold my tongue but Husb is more volatile
(- he’s holding his tongue but barely!)
We are at 3rd (final)interview stage for a role we want (but of course no guarantee!) and if we get that they’d want us to begin mid sept.
If we don’t get that we do have enough savings to see us through a few months (but of course not forever)
Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

It is absolutely fine to ask to negotiate your notice period down. Just ask if they would consider it as there is someone ready to step in, to allow you to take on another position. They can only say no. They may stipulate it is dependant on certain tasks being completed within the 2 months

Yes we gave notice 3 weeks ago. (Verbally).
Also just today we’ve been told that the owner (who is very seldom here - it’s a private estate) wants to speak to us about our leaving.
The truth is that there is nepotism and mismanagement (cldnt organise a p*** up in a brewery) but I don’t believe it’s in our interests to tell the truth. Was thinking of keeping it simple n gloss over real reason).
