Ideally, 'yes' Pasta, but most of us have to work in less than our ideal and aim for it.  Abby does not seem to understand that she is not exempt.

Abby.  I knew you love dog-walking.  Can you not speak to the charities you help and ask about paid employment?

I'm thinking of the kennels to which we send our (mellowing, but can be difficult) dog.  They have a kennel-maid who walks and looks after the dogs.  Ask after paid jobs doing what you like.

Meanwhile - do what you have to to earn your keep.

When in the 6th form I had a Summer job at Salts  Mill in the canteen.  I started at 7, walked the 1 1/2 miles there, and I did not enjoy peeling thousands of spuds etc., or the horrible washing-up (no machines in those days).  I especially did not enjoy the dying cockroaches falling off the beams (one fell down the front of my overall!).  But I did it and it was worth it.  Huge life experience and I paid my mum for my keep - as well as bringing home left-over puddings.

You need to have the same attitude.  

The world does not owe you - you must make your way.

abbey, can I suggest you answer in full sentences with proper answers as your short, unpunctuated 'answers' often don't represent a proper answer, thus prompting more questions.

Toorak knows, I'm sure, that the care home reduced your hours (because they felt you weren't coping/up to the job).  You need to win them over slowly if you want more hours, by showing them you can do a good job.

Abbey, a little while ago you said you'd ask the care home 'if I can have my hours back until I find a more suitable job...' - but that's not a great scenario for them. I'm sure they'd rather have a permanent employee, and one who could do the job well.  Are you better able to cope with the pressure now?

Thanks, Abbey, Well, you can always ask for your hours to be increased, but I think a gradual rise would work better - for you and for the employer. (This does mean, of course, that your income will be ... less than ideal.)

What are you going to do or say to the folk at the care home to demonstrate to them you are capable of working more hours to their satisfaction?

Rather than going back to original hours immediately, might they consider increasing them week by week?
