I've sent the care home an email asking if I can change my days as my new job days were only available Monday yo Wednesday. What do I do they haven't replied to my email.

You'll need to work hard to make sure you impress them in your new job to make sure they don't fail your probation or reduce your hours, and also try harder to be flexible and avoid issues with your supervisor- and be lucky to find you enjoy working with your colleagues and managers. With all that you might just make more of a success of it than in your last few roles

If they have given you three days they will not accept you saying you can now only do one. You should have told them that at your interview. You need to give up the care home.

Cash what should I have told them? I only had a trial day. Its a shame it had to come to this

cashier- abbey writes in a confusing way but she meant the new job has potential so she'll honour that but ring the old home and ask to just do Fridays.

I wonder if abbey is clearer face to face- I suppose she must be as she gets plenty of job offers

Abbey, I think your major (recent) problem came about because you assumed the care home would meekly fall into line with what you wanted, changing your shifts and days so that you could start the new job right away. It was also a little unfair not to tell the new job that you could possibly need to give notice in the existing job, something you must have come across in the last 10 or so years.

Thanks, Abbey - but wasn't that AFTER you'd said 'yes' to the new job? I'm still surprised that you didn't even consider that you might have to hand in your notice in the care home - especially if the care home wouldn't fit in with your plans for your hours.

Well if they replied I could have messaged new job and asked if I could do the Tuesday and Thursday but it is if I want to as it new job are full days

Thanks, Abbey. That doesn't sound like a great idea work wise (and wages wise!) - two days in one job and eight or nine hours in another? You've been saying for a while that you need full-time work -in a way you're going backwards now!

Yeah 2 full days and would be 3 days a week for 3 hours if I did that

Abbey, if you're happy to live on the wages of a 24- or 25-hour week, that's fine. I am just surprised, though, as you've been talking of getting a place of your own. That'll not happen when you're only working part-time.

You say you work 8 - 11 at the Care Home doing the stairs... 3 hours to do two sets of stairs - surely you do something else?

They wouldnt be happy I doubt and yes when they are fully staffed and God knows what changed yesterday that would make it awkward to change my days
