Yesterday I got a txt from my job at the care home to say there is no point doing 3 hours per week so will send my p45 and next week wages. Think I might have told you this but they reduced my hours from 30 to 9 hours per week I'm now in a cleaning job cleaning houses 21 hours per was longer Monday-Wednesday but I'm not sure about so hoping to do warehouse work.I regret my decision now to change my days in the care home. I've not had a good day today as supervisor giving me a hard time saying I haven't touched things when I've tried to clean them and it's bad cleaning she find it hard to believe I was a cleaner . They reckon I'm not listening but concentration is my weekness

I emailed my job but no response

//I haven't had it ans maybe was still in care home when I started//

Maybe you could try again with that post as it makes no sense to me, abbey

Hi Abbey, it sounds to me like you have been put on emergency tax which can happen in a new job, as they don't know which tax code you need to be under. If you want it sorting you will need to contact/ phone the gov.uk website for tax to update your info. If you don't you will be on emergency tax code till April 2024 when they will give you all the money back in a lump sum.

Was still in care home when I started this job so had 2 jobs

Hmrc also thought you had the home bargains job. Your tax code will have kept changing but will sort itself out

You should get payslips but you could sign up got an online tax account at Hmrc: that will let you see all gross and net pay by pay period by employer.

Do you never receive HMRC tax code letters by post? If so, do you read them?

^For not got

Did I have a lucky escape from care home?

What makes you think that, Abbey? Have you missed out a part of the story?  You were happy - most of the time - in the care home.

Forget about the Care Home, Abbey.  How did Mum's knee operation go? Is she home?

I thought you wanted to go back there?

I think the care home had a lucky escape!

abbey---please reply and tell us how your mum is after her operation.

Question Author

Yes I was happy and was willing to do overtime for them. She not home yet.

This has turned into  the AB Lee website.  ;0)

Abbey, you may have been happy and willing to do overtime - but they were not happy to have you employed for more than 9 hours a week, so it wasn't a balanced relationship!

15.05  Have you been in touch with her or visited her?  Is the hospital far from home?

Question Author

No she home went in Friday and don't have visitors
