Thanks nma, my bad (sorry abbey).

Actually abbey, 20 kilos is a lot to lift.  I know I couldn't do that.

That list of physical tasks listed woud suggest to me that this company has a low value on staff health & safety. 20kg is heavy (it's like a 7 yeard old child) and it's unusual to see a job description would have such physical tasks with adjectives like heavy. Where I work they are almost fanatical about H&S, you'd never see those tasks as a requirement without it going on and on about PPE. In fact that looks like a job for someone built like a brick ***.

I think it's a job for a man, abbey, I really do.  Keep looking.

So canary I'm on a 10 hour contract then I was doing 37 per week doing cleaning and checkout now they cut it back to 10 hours per week. I love it in selco but I'm just thinking about futre financially.

Question Author

If so shouldn't have called me in for an interview.

Some women might be capable of doing it, abbey, but I doubt many could.

Question Author

Unless like warehouse some men are happy to lift for me.

Abbey, much as you like Selco, at no point did you have a 37 hour contract. It obviously suited the company to give you that for a little while, just as it obviously suited them to cut your hours way back down again. Whether the reasons for that were true or not, you were also told that it was highly unlikely that you'd get a full-time position. No-one can live on 10 hours a week, so it looks like it's vital for you to find a full-time job. I'm not sure if the latest job spec is one for you.

Question Author

Well all they saying is they haven't got the budget. They said they were going to give me a new contract but the guy I was meant to have replaced came back so don't know which one it could be.

Question Author

I've applied for others just to be safe I do like sound of packer but not sure about location

The men will have their own work to do, you will have to do your own lifting.

20.46  How far is the location from your home, Abbey?  Does it involve changing buses, etc.?

Abbey - have you tried lifting 20kg - just to check that you could do it on a repetetive basis?  I couldn't do it and females are built differently to males..... heavy weights candamage your back. ase (Believe me, please, you don't want that to happen).

Question Author

Yes get 2 buses

Abbey, there doesn't seem to be many jobs around for you - so I think you'll need to Just go where the work is! None of the (more local) jobs that you've had over the last couple of years have worked out, your options are perhaps getting a bit limited as time goes by?

Question Author

I've done two jobs that are local but will go further atm there no local vacancies available.

Abbeylee - I go back to 'Can you lift 20Kg on a regular basis'?

Very seriously, VERY SERIOUSLY, female anatomy is different to that of males.  Men can lift weights OK, they have the build for it. Female hip structure and muscles are very different.

Question Author

Will discuss that in the interview.

Question Author

So I'm now being told they been giving overtime to people while 2 members of staff are off for 2 weeks. One of my colleges said they should put me on a different department if I'm no good on till. I don't want to go to this interview to far
