I'm not a Social Worker, but liaise with them quite a lot in some degree. In my opinion, it'll be challenging for you that's for sure, but no doubt rewarding at times. Think you would find yourself taking a lot of work home with you, mentally and physically depending on what role you take on. I think you need to ask yourself how unselfish am I and do I want to really help? before you dive in. Good Luck!
Hi Im in my second year of the social work degree and am currently on my second placement. I really enjoy social work because it deals with all different aspects such as law, psychology, sociology, teaching etc.and you deal with all different types of people. From what i have learned so far, you gain little respect from other people, you are pushed and given a lot of responsibility and it is very challenging and can be dangerous! but it is rewarding, different and you get to make a difference in peoples lives. I know I'm biased as I wouldn't be doing the degree if I didn't want to do the job but I reccomend it as long as you think you will be commited to the job.
