Social work is a CHALLENGING job!
Don't commit to it too quickly. I understand your reasons for wanting to do it, but so many social workers end up spending so much of their time feeling compromised that it is sometimes hard to see the joy in it.
I would recommend doing a bit of voluntary work in a social work team or at least going and talking to a few before you change any big plans.
I don't mean to sound pessimistic because it can be a great job, but many people are in it and find it hard to leave - even though they want to!
Let me know what you think - best of luck,
