I am temping with an agency and just got a job at really short notice. My agent said the job is initially for 2 weeks but may extend to a month. On the first day of work, I signed off JSA (I had been claiming for over 6 months). But I just realised that if the job does last for only 2 weeks, then could I claim again ? Would me claiming JSA for the second time just after 2 weeks cause any problems since I had been claiming for more than 6 months previously? and isn't a 2 week assignment too short ? Any help here ?

I've not been out of work for years now, and I realise things have changed a bit, but I should imagine you would have no real problems as you are working, albeit as a temp, and not claiming. When I was out of work I did loads of temp jobs, and just made claims for days I didn't work. Have a word at the Jobcentre is what I'd suggest.
You should can claim Job seekers any time you are out of work. JSA is based in part on the amount of NI contributions you have made during the previous financial year. Every time you clain JSA your NI contribution is maintained. The only problem is that the Job centre will make you jump through hoops every time you claim, and if it's anything like my local job centre there may be a delay in getting your "new claim" appointment, by which time your agency may have found you another assignment. It's a tough call really but they can't fault you for trying.
