Hi,

I have completed a degree in Primary Teaching, this was a BA (hons) course. Unfortunately, due to a very tough placement, I have decided against teaching. I really want to work with children and education but not in a teacher capacity. I have always loved IT and was wondering about creating educational software. I would love to hear your opinions on what others jobs are out there for me, and how I could combine my degree with IT.

Thanks in advance, Megan - x

It seems a shame to waste your qualification just because you had a horrible time at one school! There are some great schools out there with very supportive staff. why not look for a part time job in a school, in a nice area with a good reputation? A part time job would give you time to think of other things, whilst keeping your hand in. Could you start up a website for teachers, with resources for teaching IT in Primary schools?

My friend works for Southport council- his job is to visit school kids who have been excluded or who refuse to go to school, set them up with a PC and then arrange for them to be tutored online in various subjects.

You could also just write an educational website and maybe sell CD-ROMS to schools, to help them teach ANY aspect of Primary school- art or drama or whatever you know about. You could make some money doing this too.

Good luck!x

p.s You could aim the CD Rom at supply lessons. Things to do when the teacher is away. Quizzes and things. Could be fun??!
