Help.. in need of ideas.

recently purchased first home and in desperate need of some extra cash to make some much needed home improvements. I work nights, but am contracted not to work voluntary or otherwise (great isnt it). any way, happy to stuff envelopes, post flyers etc. I am honest, reliable and loyal - oh..and 26yrs old. Any ideas how I can get round my contract would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

Am uncertain what you mean about being contract not to "work voluntary". Does this mean you are not allowed to do any other paid work, i.e. moonlighting? Or whether you are not allowed to do any voluntary (unpaid, i.e. charity) work. If it's the latter, I'm wondering what kind of job would specify that which I would regard as an intrusion into my persona life? Anyway, as to earning some cash, don't know whether you're male or female, but possibly some decorating or house cleaning/ironing/gardening (where you're not in the public eye and nobody can check up on you). However, are you planning on declaring this to the Inland Revenue??

What sort of work do you do that would require you to sign a contract preventing you from having another job?

I am part of the management team at a nightclub. on 24hr call sadly (although love the 'silence' option on my mobile ring tone). To clarify the voluntary thingy..i cant work anywhere else, paid or not. I was too young to know better when i signed the stupid thing. I am happy to declare any money i make, but dont want to risk loosing my job for it. I live alone and am female so dont want to rent to a stranger (night job brings paranoia of strangers as well- am strongly against drugs, drink and have recently quit smoking- v.boring person really). ironing is a possibility -thanks for the suggestion.

Try 'mystery shopping' - make telephone calls or visits shops, pubs etc. to make a little money. Not going to make a fortune but a little bit of extra cash that you can put away. try www.retaileyes.co.uk and www.cybershoppers.nop.co.uk .
