Art Lecturing

I have a 2.1 in Fine Arts. How would I become an Art lecturer in further education?

You can do a PGCE specialising in FE. This would mean another year at university, mostly spent doing teaching practice. You could also write to your local FE College and offer yourself for some work. Most Colleges will employ you on the condition that you do your teacher training at the same time. The good point about this is- they pay you to do it. The bad point is, it is nowhere near as good training as doing the PGCE first.

On the PGCE you are totally supported throughout your training. You do a lot of observations and essays. Learning on the job however, is hard because you are thrown in at the deep end, and the mistakes you make early on are usually remembered by your students!

If you want to teach a degree level you will probably need an MA in fine art.
